The first community shop to receive the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.

Queens Award for Voluntary Service

We are a community run village shop based in St Leonard's church, Yarpole, Leominster, Herefordshire HR6 0BD.

Learn our history in About Us.

We are the first full-time shop in a church, open 7 days a week, run completely by volunteers. Come and visit us!

The Community, the Shop and the Bell Inn - together.

The Shop Board would like to inform shareholders, customers and parishioners that the Board has elected to offer an interest free loan to the Mortimer Community Benefit Society of £10,000 to assist with its efforts in purchasing the Bell Inn for the Community.

It is worth remembering that in 2009, a £20,000 grant was provided to the Church under the auspices of the development of the shop as it moved into its new home in the Church. This earlier action and the proposed assistance with the financing of the pub indicate one of the shop’s main aims which is to support relevant community enterprises in the parish. This sort of support is, indeed, explicitly defined within the constitution of the Yarpole Community Shop Association Ltd.

We would like to congratulate the Mortimer Community Benefit Society for all its efforts and wish it well in its future role representing the shareholder ownership of The Bell Inn.

The Shop was voted Best Village Shop & Post Office in the UK in 2010 in the Countryside Alliance Awards. A group from the shop travelled to the House of Lords to be presented with the award.
